Baklava



This is a very famous sweet of the Turkish cuisine.


Ingredients
Fillo(Phyllo)Dough (9''x14'')-1 pck
(you get it freezer section)
Chopped Walnuts-2 cups
Prunes chopped-1 cup
Cinnamon powder-1/2tsp
Cloves powder-2 pinch
Sugar-1/2cup
Melted butter-2 & 1/2 sticks
For Syrup
Sugar-1 & 1/2 cup
Honey-2 tbsp
Cloves-4
Lemon juice-2tsp
Method
Bring the syrup ingredients to a boil .Simmer it for 10 mins.Strain & keep it aside.Powder walnuts,sugar ,cinnamon & cloves powder,keep it aside for filling. Take a rectangle baking tray ,brush it up with butter.Layer 8 sheets of fillo brushing each with melted butter.Repeat it 4 times.Sprinkle the walnut mixture ,arrange the prunes on top.Place next 8 layers brushing with butter in between repeat it 2 times.Cut into squares,Pour the remaining butter on top.Bake it at 350 deg. for 30 minutes till its light brown colour.Cool it & pour warm syrup evenly over Baklava.Cool it completely & serve it.

  4. I'm getting ready to make baklava soon for a project I'm working on - thanks for sharing this great recipe! I hadn't considered adding prunes but that sounds very tasty.
